Hurricane Joaquin Looks Totally Surreal From Space

Hurricane Joaquin isn’t so pretty here on Earth, but from space, the rain-making, surf-churning Category 4 storm has a surreal, almost peaceful appearance.
Just check out this photo posted at 10:22 a.m. ET today by NASA astronaut Scott Kelly, who is about halfway through his one-year stint on the International Space Station.

Kelly's tweet (above) included good wishes for those on Earth, and understandably so. Joaquin has been blamed for at least two fatalities–and though it doesn't appear to be the superstorm some had feared, it's still raging.
“We're certainly very concerned about this situation,” Bill Martin, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina, told The Weather Channel this morning. “We're expecting very high to extreme levels of rainfall over the next 48 hours.”
